Flourish Kenya Stands Against Femicide and Calls for Urgent Action

Kilgoris, 25 January - Flourish Kenya, an international community partnership committed to breaking cycles of harm against children, mainly caused by female genital mutilation, child marriage, and gender-based violence in rural Kenyan communities, expresses deep concern and condemnation over the recent surge in femicides in Kenya.

In recent weeks, our nation has witnessed a distressing increase in cases of femicide, a tragic manifestation of gender-based violence that demands immediate attention and action. Flourish Kenya firmly believes that every individual, regardless of gender, deserves to live in a society free from violence and fear.

As part of our commitment to creating awareness and advocating for change, Flourish Kenya proudly announces that we will be marching alongside other like-minded organizations on Saturday, 27 January, to raise our collective voice against femicide and gender-based violence. The march aims to unite communities, ignite conversations, and demand urgent action from authorities to address this pressing issue.

We invite all concerned individuals, community leaders, and organizations to join us in solidarity as we march for a future free from violence and discrimination. Together, we can send a powerful message that femicide has no place in our society, and we must work collaboratively to eradicate it.

Flourish Kenya reiterates its call for:

  1. Swift Justice

  2. Community Engagement and Education

  3. Collaboration with Stakeholders

  4. Support for Survivors

Flourish Kenya believes in a future where every child, woman, and man can live without fear of violence, discrimination, or harm. We call upon the government, civil society, and individuals alike to join hands in eradicating the scourge of femicide from our society.
